When a candidate for president goes on a radio talk show who you support and you have an idea to help him, what do you do? You call up the talk show, which is what I did. This is exactly what happened in May 2012 when we called a radio talk show Gary Johnson was on and then at his direction contacted the campaign office and went about developing a mobile app for him.
Gary Johnson 2012 Mobile App
The story is actually rather interesting but I won’t bore you with the details. Suffice to say that the campaign did not understand the power of the app and though we pressed on believing it was better to ask forgiveness we were a bit disappointed that it didn’t make as much of a difference as it could have. Not to mention the fact that Apple (in our opinion) stonewalled the approval process becaues they didn’t like Gary’s libertarian points of view.
Regardless the app got some very nice reviews on some very wall traveled blogs as well as positive commentary from the grass roots and we continue to believe that using the mobile web as a way to counter the liberal propaganda is a solid strategy.
Project Background and Scope
The background was simple. Translate our desire to see the libertarian message get wider exposure by producing a mobile app that would help Gary get his message out and more importantly help put some campaign money in his war chest. We wanted to create nice easy to read work of art that gave Gary visibility to Gary’s travels, campaign appearances, the message along with an easy way to contribute to the campaign.
The app was highly functional and made it easy to support Gary via Twitter, Facebook, YouTube videos and more.
