Who likes to go to the dentist. Not me. I can think of at least 100 other things I’d rather do than pay a visit to the dentist. All those needles and sharp tools in my mouth. “Now this is going to pinch a little bit” they’d always way.
Well that’s the way it used to be because Dr. Rene Piedra and New Era Dentistry at http://floridasleepdentist.com has this thing called Sedation Dentistry. You go to sleep, they do the work, you wake up and go home. No fuss, no muss and most of all no pain.
However, in this particular situation the pain was in the other direction. You see the good doctor (because he didn’t know any better) was paying $300.00 per month for two websites – one of which he didn’t even use. Not to mention the fact that neither of the website were built on what I would call a friendly CMS (content management system) that allowed for the good Dr. to make his own changes.
Seriously that’s the kind of business I want, but as I’ve learned there are more than one or two of these specialty (not to be named) services that are milking unknowing clients for quite a bit of change each month. Either way were were happy t o help.
Project Background and Scope
As is the case with most successful small business people, they have little in the way of specific technical knowledge. His $300/month bill was something that he thought was the ‘norm’ so he was eager to put an end to that but didn’t know exactly how to make it happen. Situations where we have to move from one hosting service to ours, is a bit more complicated than bringing up a fresh site. To make matters even a bit more complex, the existing service wasn’t all that cooperative in the process either. That’s another story for another day. Suffice to say, the good Dr. just wanted it done and wanted to have a platform that would allow him to get good Google local listings.
Pretty simple. Save the good Dr. some money, give him a mobile presence and create a targeted semi-autojmated content publishing system that would allow for him to get more social networking visibility and work towards becoming more of an authority.
- Keyword Research: We always do keyword research as it forms the basis of SEO friendly website configuration.
- Replacement Web Design: This was a bit of a hassle grabbing the existing content from the old site and it slowed things down a bit. Oh and the good Dr. needed a logo as well so we handled that for him too.
- Migrate Website from Old Host: Pain in the you know what. The old host made it really difficult to cancel out. He had to fill out a questionnaire, go through an interview process and then moving the domains was a bit of a hassle as well.
- App Design and Development: With the new site in place we moved to the HTML5 Web app development phase and from the screenshots below you can see that it turned out really nicely.
Well, almost immediately as soon as we put the mobile app in place he started to receive email for appointments through the app. This of course made us very happy and it just goes to show you that you don’t know what you don’t know and who knows how many prospects he lost before he went mobile.
